How To Get A
Six Pack
If you want to know how to get a six pack, you
may be surprised to know that what you may have thought in
the past is probably not what you need to do to get one.
What is also surprising is that you can achieve the six pack
look in a very short space of time as long as you follow the
correct steps.
For a long time most people have had the notion that if you
do plenty of exercises such as crunches you will get a six
pack. But this isn't necessarily the case because
to get a six pack you need to both build muscle
AND lose fat. Everybody has abdominal muscles but most of us
have a layer of fat sitting over the top of them, which is why
we do not have a six pack look. If you want to get a six pack,
you need to burn away this layer of fat. That's the good news.
The bad news is that you cannot spot reduce. What this means is
you can not burn just the fat around your abdominal area, but
need to concentrate on the entire body.
More good news is that whilst achieving a six pack look
requires some effort on your part, you will not have to starve
yourself, nor will you have to spend hours at the gym.
In fact, you may find that you are eating more food and
exercising less than you have in the past.
The following tips will give you a guide to help you get a
six pack:
Diet
• Try to eat every three to four hours - this helps to keep
your metabolism at an optimal level. The higher your
metabolism, the more fat your body will burn.
• Include whole, fresh foods in your diet - this includes
red meat, chicken breast, fish, fresh fruits and vegetables,
egg whites and nuts. Your body uses a lot more energy to burn
these foods than it does to burn processed or refined foods. To
burn fat, you obviously want to use more energy.
• Avoid foods high in saturated fats and sugar wherever
possible, however these may be included as part of your post
work out meal (more on this later).
• Allow yourself one day per week for “cheat” meals, as
this will trick your metabolism into working harder, and it
will also help you to overcome any feelings that you are going
without.
While it was mentioned above to avoid sugar, including some
sugar as part of your post workout meal creates an insulin
spike, which in turn boosts muscle growth. It is this meal that
you can allow yourself a bit of a “sugar splurge”!
Exercise
• Exercise at least three times a week
• Your exercise routine must include strength and resistance
training to build muscle - do not restrict this part of your
routine to exercising just one or two specific muscles. You
need to exercise your entire body, not just part of it over the
course of a week.
• Allow your muscles time to repair and build - allow at
least one day in between each muscle workout before you
exercise it again.
• To help the fat burning process, cardio should be included
as part of your workout routine. Short burst intervals have
been proven to boost your metabolism for longer, and therefore
burn more fat.
As you see, if you want to know how to get a six pack, the
process is actually quite simple. However, it is important to
remain focused on your goal and stick to your diet and exercise
routine. You might even want to take before photos and compare
them afterwards to your new look, so that you can see how much
you have achieved.
